Exhibitor Magazine Looks At The Cost of Owning Your Own Exhibit

sept08cover182 I was recently reading my copy of EXHIBITOR Magazine, and an article written by Linda Armstrong caught my eye.  Linda discusses the idea of breaking down the costs of owning your own exhibit.  The hypothetical costs analysis that was performed was also assisted by a Denver based  company called Condit Exhibits.  The exhibit whereby they performed the cost analysis was a 20 x 20 custom exhibit.  They provide a line item detailed description of the costs which included the following:

  • Design/Fabrication
  • Pre-Show Preparation
  • Management
  • Electrical.Audiovisual
  • Logistics
  • Miscellaneous

Each of the categories had its own subtotal and I won’t go completely into the details here as I think you should pick up a copy of the magazine and see for yourself the items that they provide, but suffice it to say the annual costs of ownership they provided was a whopping $4237,210 to $477,050.  They looked into having the exhibit for 10 shows per year, averaging 3 days each show, and many other line items that you may not have thought of as a cost item.  I am not yet prepared for this type of exhibit ownership, and I am not even quite sure my customers can afford to have a cost such as this passed through for their costs of my services yet, but it does provide a look at what can be a part and parcel to any marketing plan related to trade shows.  The article provides a link where you can do your own cost analysis by downloading a worksheet at www.exhibitorweblinks.com.
