Amp Your Convention Presentations With New Applications

The presentation industry is getting better with the likes of new and better applications to use.  I spoke before about PowerPoint presentations and Keynote now that I am a Mac user and I am pretty much a fail at either or in using them for killer presentations.  Now we have the announcement today of SlideRocket being given funding. As indicated in the comments of that post, there is also Prezi that is announcing its own funding.

I am not sure what this means for my presentations as I am still trying to get the basics of PowerPoint and Keynote figured out.  These applications are more for the bells and whistles of the latest in technology.  I am not sure bells and whistles can help me but perhaps a presentation coach is in order for that.  I am seeing more and more coaches of this or that popping up.  I’m sure I can find a presentation coach.

Of note is the fact that Sliderocket also gains a new CEO, Chuck Dietrich, former General Manager and Vice President at Salesforce.com.  This is probably a part of the terms of the financing and I am curious to see how this company excels.  On the other story, I have actually seen Prezi in operation at a conference I attended and in the right hands, meaning not mine, this is a great application.  They get Jack Dorsey, a Co-Founder of Twitter, to help advise the business.

With SlideRocket getting $5 Million and Prezi only garnering $160K in funding it will be interesting to see how they each do with the amount given.  Of note is the buzz surrounded by both companies and what they bring to the game.  Each has its own evangelists and banner carriers.
